Bike Bike was incredible, We met many amazing people from bike collectives around the country, Minneapolis, Baltimore, San Francisco, Missoula, Victoria, BC, Seattle, etc..
We returned feeling empowered and are ready to make the most of winter.
We have decided to rent out the rear of our shop to a friend who will be using it as an art space. Bike Farm folk are also working on a grant from the neighborhood coalition to try to fund 3 new programs. They include the following:
Winter weatherization Course- Nov 15th 5PM! For $10-15, learn what types of tires, rain gear and fenders work best in the cold. The course will be 2 hours, with the last hour as a time for us to help you get fenders on your bike, and whatever other adjustments you’d like to make. We will have some fenders for purchase.
Wheel Building Class- (contingent on grant money) This will be 2 classes. For $30-$40, we’ll teach you to build a sturdy 3 cross front wheel, and the second class will follow with a rear wheel for ($40-$50). (because of the dishing process, we require you to take the first class if you want to take the second, or have some experience building rear wheels)
Mobile Mechanics- We would take a set of mobile tools to a number of events to help people do small repairs. The idea behind this is to come to you, rather than you coming to us, and at the same time doing outreach.
