Bike Farm is an all volunteer-run collective dedicated to every aspect of bicycle education, from safe commuting to repair. Our mission is to provide a space where people can learn about the bicycle and build community around promoting sustainable transportation. We strive to demystify the bicycle in order to impact the city in a healthy and positive way.

Couldn’t find tool wish list to put on tool to tighten shrader valve. Thimble might have one to donate.

Generally mellow attendance on shifts, due to slowdown. So maybe project bikes to work on if it’s slow!!! or to be stripped as necessary.

Should get in touch with Bryce (Steve) and maybe expand program now. Simon has apps to hand over.

Internet wifi. Power outage caused the source to reset.

Thimble is attempting to bridge on an open network. We don’t pay, currently.

What about sharing with Art Collective? paying them a little bit or another neighbor.

Action, Aashiq ask upstairs neighbor/friend. Steve talk to Rio of Art Collective about sharing costs.

Next steps: find out options and go from there.

Memberships as thank-yous for Art Collective’s help with Party

Rio and Molly, did sound, prep and clean up.

Proposal to give them each a 6 mos. membership each. PASSED.

Monday shift hole.

Simon is leaving so only other Simon, but has to leave at 6pm which leave Eric for the last hour. And nominate Eric to get a key.

Chris said he can come in Mondays, also Michael and some other new folks. Also Wednesdays.

Proposal Eric gets a key. PASSED. (gets Simon out).

Landlord issues: Action: ask Momoko to send landlord info to the group. Also what is the lease. Thimble suggests maybe a move in Spring, rather than now and in the winter.

Thimble’s art space

So could be a storage option available coming soon, and would contribute fair amount. Art clinic type set up. Thimble will keep us posted.

Cultivate Portland Occupational Therapy.

suggestion to help them out with their maintenance learning program and maybe some networking with them. Similar to Reid’s morning class.

Sponsorship/Grants

Letter of Sponsorship for the Day Labor Center program, English class of bike mechanic class. Not a proposal, just heads up on the letter. Already passed previous meeting.

Volunteers wanting to come and help get to the Day Labor Center by 10:15am (class at 10:30am.) Locations: MLK and I84 on ramp.

Involve Bikefarm with Community Food Program urban farming. BF would help low income people acquire bikes through build bikes to facilitate urban farming.

Group of CSAs encountered a group of homeless folks who have an ill-advised area for gardening. Grant is to start a community food program for low income people. But they’ll need bikes and trailers to help with this.

Fiscal year 2011 (June 2011), due Nov. 17th.

Who is applying for the grant? Lindsey.

What obligation would BF have with this? Bikefarm makes itself available through BB program and add some money for this extra, etc. Relevant text will be sent to the group for discussion.

How is BF’s BB to be used in this case in particular? They would build their own bikes as per the program with some money injected in to purchase parts. Probably no building of bike for us since they need to get out their to farm.

Need to see what the proposal will be and Lindsey will send to the group.
