Community! Bike Farm is losing one of our valued mechanics to North Dakota, and we need help. As you know, Bike Farm is an all-volunteer run repair collective. We are entirely dependent on the generosity of our devoted volunteers to keep our doors open. We have been just barely covering our bases, but have been stretched thin for some time now.
With the loss of one of our shift leaders, Bike Farm might be forced to cancel our Saturday afternoon shift and our Wednesday evening shift. Saturday is one of our busiest days, so this closure would be a huge disappointment for members of our community who depend on Bike Farm to maintain their bikes.
This is a call out for skilled mechanics. Bike Farm needs your help. If you think you might be interested, please email bikefarm@bikefarm.org or stop by the shop during open hours.
There are even perks besides that bright glow in your heart: Committed volunteers who help out for 16 hours a month are entitled to a free membership while they are active volunteers, as well as $20 of free used parts each month (does not roll over). Core volunteers who have helped out for 32 hours over two months and basically keep the shop running are entitled to those benefits, plus they can purchase up to $500 of parts from our distributors (Cyclone and SBS) every year, plus 10% for shipping/etc.
Plus you get to spend time with Bike Farm mechanics, who are arguably the coolest people in the world. I would argue that, anyway.
